Introducing the Sivetz Hall of Fame

We’re sharing the stories of Sivetz roasters from around the world that have stood the test of time and provided years of faithful service!

Our first mention in the Sivetz Hall of Fame is the roaster at Hidden Peaks in Salt Lake City! This 1/4 Bag roaster has been in operation for over 30 years, providing all of the roasted beans for the 3 generations of the Hansen family that have roasted on this machine. Operating 7 days a week for most of the year, this machine has produced well over 2 million pounds of beans! When asked about blower motors needing replacing, Tyler Hansen responded “We never even had to replace the motors…just refurbished them.”

Hidden Peaks Coffee & Roasting Co. was founded in 1989 by Roger Hansen, aka “Roger the Roaster".” At that time Roger had spent thirty years working in the hospitality, food and beverage industry and he wanted to take a little more control of his life, so he started a coffee roasting company. Roger’s son Derek soon came on board to lend his sales and marketing skills to the family-run business, and significant growth soon followed.

Derek’s son Tyler is the next generation of roasters in the family, and growing up in a family-run coffee roastery gave him the best possible “school” to learn the trade from the ground up. He has grown into the business over the years and is now an experienced master-roaster himself.

“Our gourmet coffee beans come from micro-family farmers who use sustainable practices. We source high-quality coffees from around the world that are certified organic,  fair trade,  and shade-grown. Our beans change seasonally based on the harvest cycle of the region they are grown in.”
